As most of our friends and family know my husband and I started the adoption process back in the spring of this year. We were officially approved in June soon after Samuel’s 2nd birthday. We were selected by a couple in July with the birth of their son. It was an unusual circumstance and seemed from the beginning that the best place for for this precious boy was with his parents and his older brothers. Times had been very hard on this family and they were facing being homeless.

Patrick and I were glad to be there for this couple and pray for them. They ultimately decided to parent their child and took him home to be with his brothers. I think about them often and pray that God blesses this family and I hope that Patrick and I were a comfort to them in some way. Our prayer was for God’s will to be done and we knew that even though little Lucas was not to be ours, God was on His throne working it all out.
A couple of weeks later in September we meet with a young lady and her boyfriend that were expecting the birth of a little girl on November 26th. Soon after leaving our first meeting we received word that they had selected us and wanted to proceed with the adoption process. We were elated at the prospect of having a little girl! We had planned to keep in contact with them through e-mail and several more meetings to get to know each other better.
After about a month we lost contact and they were not returning the agency or caseworkers calls or e-mails as well. We continued to pray for this young couple and held out for hope that it was just a temporary loss of communication. As time went by it was obvious that they had a change of heart and it was time to return to the waiting families list. As hard as it ways to have another failed placement, our faith remand that God’s timing and will was best.
This past Friday morning I was enjoying my morning cup of coffee while Sam was playing and watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I was recovering from a long period of sinus and respiratory infections and had planned on taking the day pretty easy. A few moments after settling into my favorite chair and reading all my friends facebook updates my cell phone rang. It was the caseworker from Bethany Christian Services. I assumed she was calling to give me an update on the baby girl that was due on November 26th, I had asked to be updated if they received word on her birth just so I knew they were all doing okay.
The rest of the phone call was pretty much a blur to me. All I heard was we have a little boy… you can come meet him and take him home tomorrow. There are no words for what I felt or my husband felt as we tried to process this information. There are no words for what I am feeling now and the awesomeness of God. He never ceases to amaze me!!!!!
After running around like a crazy woman all day friday, in between the on my knees prayers, around 3 hours of sleep and lot’s of caffeine we took off at 6:30 am Saturday morning to journey to Southern Indiana in a snow storm to meet our son. Walked into the hospital went upstairs, my son was put into my arms and the child we have wanted and prayed for a very long time was finally here. We have been praying for him since Samuel came into our lives 2 and 1/2 years ago. We knew we would take the adoption journey again as soon as Samuel was old enough. What a journey it has been!
We spent around 5 hours in the hospital, mostly waiting on the Dr. to come release us. Left the hospital and went to Taco Bell for a snack on the drive home and we were off. Off to start our life as a family of 5. A family that is blessed beyond measure, a family that is so grateful for all the awesome things God does in our lives, a family that has received all they ever wanted for Christmas! Thank you Father, your timing is perfect 😉
