Christmas truly is such a magical time of the year. Seriously, I can not remember the last time my whole family went out in the driveway after dinner and just stared at the house? This morning my son and I just sat quietly on the sofa together admiring our tree. The lights are one of the best parts, the way they twinkle like little jewels.
Downtown Indianapolis has one of the prettiest displays of lights on Monument Circle. Every Christmas season the monument is decorated as an enormous Christmas tree. This city tradition is known as the Circle of Lights and has been done annually since 1962. The tree lighting ceremony is held the day after Thanksgiving. The decoration of the monument uses 4,784 lights and 52 strands of garland. I think it is around 285 ft tall? If your in the area you should check it out. It really is beautiful! You can see from my pic.
One of my greatest joys is driving Sammy around during the season and just looking for lights. There are a couple of houses near us that go all out and we make it a point to go past them on our way home. Just to hear his joy and excitement from the backseat brings such a smile to my heart! I guess it just means even more to hear and see his joy since it took so long for him to get here. I would never wish infertility on anyone but there is such sweet joy to be found in the everyday things that you thought you would never have a chance to share with a child. I thank God for each and every one of those special “ordinary” moments.
As we wait on the blessing of a sibling for Sammy it leaves us dreaming of the giggles they will make together from the backseat one day. There is always room on the driveway for one more.
Blessings & Christmas Joy!
