If you’ve ever walked into a Goodwill Outlet store than you know, it can be very intimidating. Chances are you have never shopped anywhere like it before.
First off, you are gonna want to grab a cart. You never know what you are going to find.
When you walk in you are greeted by a huge room filled with very large blue bins on wheels. Some may have only clothing and others may have all housewares. My suggestion is to bring some gloves from home, pick a row and start digging.
I found that if you have questions most folks are very willing to take a second to fill you in.
If you see a lot of carts sitting against the walls or out in the middle covered with sheets or blankets, just move on. Folks gather stuff and leave it there after they get a full cart. Then they move on to the next cart and new bins.
Don’t take too long in one bin because they are gonna roll the bins away soon. Most merchandise bins rotate every two hours. They are removed from the sales floor and replaced with a completely different selection of merchandise. Book bins rotate every few hours. The rotation schedule varies by location.
When your ready to check out take your treasures to the register where they will be weighed. Prices vary by location but in Indianapolis the following is pretty general.
Clothing, Housewares, CD’s, DVD’s and Toys are 0.99 cents a pound.
Glass and Ceramics 0.29 cents a pound.
Shoes are $1.79 a pound.
All other items, are priced as mark.
Merchandise is sold as-is.
All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges.
No discounts or promotions valid.
I spent around $3.00 on my goodies.
The Outlet is not for everyone. If you are germaphobe or get grossed out by filth, you might want to shop elsewhere. If you love an adventure and don’t mind getting a lil dirty, this is for you.
You will have to dig through stuff that has literally been dumped in with no guarantees of what you might mind. It can totally be worth it though! I have seen some folks find some great things! Hunter brand boots, Tom’s, leather chairs, brand new toys, clothes with the tags still on, vintage items in great shape and so much more!
You never know what treasures may be waiting on you! If your in the Indianapolis area there are four Goodwill Outlets.
Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
Sunday 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
I suggest you go and enjoy the adventure. Happy Treasure Hunting!
Let me know if you have any questions! I’d be happy to help or even go along for the adventure ❤️
