There is nothing in this world like the bubbly, fizzy, refreshing taste of an ice cold Pepsi on a hot summer day. Any day for that matter! I like it best in a glass with tons of smaller ice cubes. I like the way the bubbles hit you in the nose right after you have poured it. I like the way it makes my meal taste better and just takes the boring out of bland food. I love the way it….
Are you starting to see the problem here? I think I am a little obsessed with the stuff…
I have given my self a personal challenge to rid the obsession from my life. Well, maybe just one every now and then? I can’t imagine never tasting the sweet fizz ever again! Let’s not go all crazy now!
I started counting up the calories as well and figured out that I was almost drinking in Pepsi what I should have in calories for an entire day. That is just nuts! I just cant drink the diet stuff, something about it makes me sick. I get headaches and an upset gut. Plus, I heard several discussions on how they believer that Aspartame may be a leading cause of several cancers.
Not just the calories here are a few of the wonderful side effects of drinking cola as well; diabetes, increase in blood pressure, kidney problems, osteoporosis and bone loss, dehydration and many many others.
Also, I don’t want my boys to ever drink it and Samuel is getting old enough that he is watching and understanding what I am doing. How am I supposed to tell them not to do it while I am holding a pop in my hand?
So, as difficult as this is going to be for me I am going to attempt this. I say attempt just because I do love the fizzle so much! If I fall of the pop wagon I can always get back on, right? 😉
BTW; it has already been 4 days and I am hanging in there so far. One day at a time, right. 😉
My life verse can even apply to this….
I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Phil 4:13
Wow. First of all, your opening paragraph had my mouth watering! Second of all, good for you for giving this a go. I think it’s awesome, and your reasons for doing (despite your love for it) are fantastic and well thought out. I gave it up about 10 years ago and I thought it’d be the hardest thing but it turned out to be not so bad…I drink flavored seltzer water now. Great post!
